Robert Black | Studio Owner | Tattooist
I spent my younger years in Murray Bridge, SA growing up, from there I left and ended up in Wyoming, USA, racing cars, skiing & freezing my b#!!$ off! Once I'd had enough of the cold I decided to move with my brother to Kununurra, WA where my time is now spent sweating my b#!!$ off! 😂 I was blessed with a creative mind from a young age and have always had a passion for all types of art, this all amplified when I discovered the medium of tattooing. I started tattooing at the age of 18 & throughout the years gained a wealth of knowledge, which has enabled me to transform clients' design ideas into unique pieces of art. I'm always honoured when someone asks me to design a tattoo for them, it's a surreal feeling watching them walk out the studio with my art tattooed on their skin. Additionally, I dedicated four years to designing and developing my own tattoo machine ( BlackRock 303). I wanted to create a machine to reduce the trauma and discomfort associated with traditional tattoo machines, making the experience more comfortable for clients and ensure they'll come back. We here at the Studio welcome everybody and look forward to discussing your design ideas with you, so don't miss out, book in and we'll see you soon.
Jo Meynell | Studio Manager
When I first met Rob, he tattooed an octopus on my shoulder for my birthday. I never would have thought we'd be 7+years on, still close friends and opening his tattoo studio. We've both watched each other accomplish many things over the years, but this is by far the most exciting & memorable. Working alongside Rob has been fun to say the least & watching him fulfil his dream of opening his own Studio is amazing. As the Studio Manager, I'm committed to delivering the utmost professional care & ensure the highest standards of health & safety are maintained for both staff & clients. Black Rock Tattoo is somewhere I feel proud to be apart of & can't wait to see what the future might entail.
Ridgie Didgie - The Dingo pup
If you happen to see Ridgie around the Studio while at your consultation be sure to say hello, she likes long walks in the park and has some strange addiction to moisturisers. The primary reason in why we don't allow children at the Studio is because - well, she is a Dingo. 😂 Just jokes, she's more focused on what kind of tattoo cream you'll be using and if you have a free hand for a pat.
